The German composer Frank Michael Beyer has received numerous international composition prizes for his orchestral and chamber music works. His score "Griechenland" honors in a very concrete way the so-called "cradle of the West". Closely related to this composition is the "Trio for oboe, viola, and harp" composed at the instigation of Ursula and Heinz Holliger. The composer refers to the terms melos, rhapsody, and dance. In Beyer’s single-movement orchestral piece "Diaphonie" one finds both the diaphonic and the symphonic.
