"Whispering Forest" - the sixth CD of the series Natural Sound. Woodland, a rich and complex community of many different plants and animals, can give anyone with the necessary sensitivity a host of delightful, relaxing and creative experiences. Much could be said about the relationship between woods and man, woods as the home of particular "wood spirits" which have lived on in many traditional legends and fairy-tales, and the idea that woods and forests, having been managed over many hundreds of years for timber production and hunting, have really only now become the great blessing for modern man. With the help of a digital recording technique and a Neumann facsimile-head stereo microphone, it has been possible for Walter Tilgner to make recordings of sounds such as the wind rustling the trees, rain and thunder that are so natural and life-like you might easily believe yourself transported to the middle of a wood as you listen to them. Thus, in the quiet of your own home, away from the noise of traffic, you can listen to the wind rustling the trees, the voices of birds, rain and thunder, toads and a chorus of frogs by a woodland pool. With these natural sound pictures presented here, the changing moods and fleeting moments from the life of a wood, Walter Tilgner wants to encourage the listener to walk among the trees, eyes and ears alert, and to attempt to "make contact" with this magical sylvan world with its secrets and thus to achieve a true experience of nature.
"Evening in the Auwald, the forest inundated, with concerts of frogs, toads croaking, the chirping of cicadas. Walter Tilgner, the author and producer of these recordings, has succeeded in capturing the sounds of the forest, the rain and the thunder, in a way so natural and alive that hearing it feels like being transported to the forest."
