To listen to the dawn chorus – birds singing as if to greet the rising sun – is surely one of the most delightful and uplifting experiences Nature has to offer, and something likely to remain in the memory long after the birds’ voices have faded. The sounds of morning presented on this CD were recorded by Walter Tilgner in spring in what is now the Austrian National Park ”Neusiedler See – Seewinkel“, a unique and fascinating landscape which, despite the grievous damage frequently inflicted on the local environment, still remains a jewel among Europe’s wildlife sites and, like few other places, has retained its power to entrance and to charm, to make such a deep and lasting impression on all who visit it. The digital recording technique and a Neumann Kunstkopf [Artificial Head] Stereo Microphone KU 81i have made possible a stereophonic, true-to-life reproduction of a series of complex sound pictures.
