Mari Vihmand, born in 1967, has been living and working in Germany for ten years. Her music can be described as both poetic and expressive, as a striving for balance between emotional and rational aspects.
The name of the first CD with music by Mari Vihmand comes from Hildegard von Bingen's poem 'O edelstes Grün' which inspired the composer to write a work in which finely nuanced tonal colours stand for the infinity of possible shades of green. It is the nuances of sound that characterize the music by this extraordinary young composer of Estonian descent and have Hildegard's idea of 'green power', the creative vital force, translated into music.
