Luigi Nono's (1924–1990) oeuvre is marked by a political engagement that was based in humanitarian basic outlook. Like the compositions of many of his colleagues, the works in which he used an independent serial technique were based on a specific reading of the work of Anton Webern. All his life Nono devoted himself to music that united reason with the power of emotion.
