Klein, Juliane

Juliane Klein (born in 1966) lives in Berlin and is active in the music scene since 1987, when she co-founded the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin. She gave lessons at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“, and had working periods in Paris, St. Petersburg and Vienna. She studied in Stuttgart with Helmut Lachenmann and started to publish her works in her own publishing company in 1999, Edition Juliane Klein. By now her company publishes the complete works of six composers. In 2002 a book on Juliane Klein was released. In 2004 she lived and worked for half a year in the Villa Massimo, Rome. Also in 2004 Juliane Klein was portrayed on CD by Deutscher Musikrat (German Music Counsil): WERGO, WER 65592. In 2005, Freiburger Barockorchester and Klangforum Wien played world premieres of her works at the Lucerne Festival and the Donaueschingen Festival. The state operas of Berlin and Hannover played premieres of her experimental operas. Juliane Klein is honoured with the „Förderungspreis Musik” of the „Kunstpreis Berlin” of the Academy of Arts Berlin 2006.
