Huber, Nicolaus A.
Nicolaus A. Huber, born 1939 in Passau. First studied music education in Munich, then composition with Franz Xaver Lehner and Günter Bialas, Josef Anton Riedl, Karlheinz Stockhausen and, in Venice, Luigi Nono. Lecturer in theory and analysis at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen since 1969. Member of the Berlin and Leipzig Akademien der Künste since 1992. Honors include the Kulturpreis für Musik from the city of Munich (1969), the Kompositionspreis from the city of Darmstadt (1970) and the Gerda-und-Günter-Bialas-Preis from the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts (2007). Professor of composition in Essen, 1974–2003.
