Kammer, Salome
Salome Kammer grew up in Frankfurt/Main in Germany, and first studied cello before pursuing a career as an actress. Following a five-year engagement at the City Theater in Heidelberg, she moved to Munich, where she portrayed the cellist, Clarissa, in Edgar Reitz’s film epic "Die zweite Heimat". Later, in addition to further guest engagements in various German theater companies, she began to perform as a vocal soloist of contemporary music. This was the beginning of an international career that has taken her to the great musical centers of the world. Working closely with many different composers, Salome Kammer has premiered countless works. She performs with renowned ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Asko Ensemble, and ensemble recherche. She has sung in contemporary opera productions in Stuttgart, Paris, Lyon and the Bavarian State Opera, among many others. A wide range of radio and CD recordings documents her work. However, Salome Kammer is not only a sought-after artist for new music, but is also prominent in the world of musical and cabaret as well. She has sung the role of Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady" more than 150 times and, together with the pianist and composer Peter Ludwig, she came to know the cabaret and variety theaters of Germany inside and out with the program "Chanson Bizarre". She teaches contemporary music for singers at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
