Goodwin, Andrew
The tenor Andrew Goodwin was born in Sydney, Australia. In 1999 he began studying singing and conducting with Lev Morozov at the State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg and finished in 2005. Goodwin has been honored in a number of international singing competitions, including the international Elena Obraztsova Competition for Young Singers (2nd prize, 2005). He works regularly with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic. His broad repertoire includes works by Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Britten, and Penderecki. In September 2006 he had a successful debut on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in a new production of Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” (stage director: Dmitri Chernyakov). In January of that year he performed for the first time at the Sydney Opera in the role of Fenton (“Falstaff”, Verdi). His repertoire also includes the roles of Léandre (“Le Médecin malgré lui”, Gounod) and Dante (“Francesca da Rimini”, Rachmaninoff).
