Krenberga, Dita
Dita Krenberga, born in Riga,studied flute at the Emils Darzins Hochschule for Music and the Latvian Academy of Music (MA 1994). She participated in master classes with James Galway, who then recommended her for a Leonard Bernstein Scholarship to study at Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the summers of 1989 and 1990, where she worked with Seiji Ozawa, Jeffrey Tate, Yo Yo Ma, and Leonard Bernstein. Krenberga was a prizewinner at the Concertina Prague (1980,) the Concurs Internacional de Música Maria Canals in Barcelona (1988), and the 48th Concours de Genève. Today, Dita Krenberga performs regularly throughout Europe, as well as in the USA, Canada, Australia, and Japan. She has appeared as a soloist with the Latvian National Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne, and the Moscow Philharmonic. She also is active as a chamber musician and has made numerous recordings. Since 2006, Dita Krenberga has been the solo flute player in the Latvian National Orchestra.
