| Founded in 1985 by Beat Furrer, the soloist-ensemble Klangforum Wien has by now become one of the leading ensembles for contemporary music in Europe. Its aim is to work on and to present a wide range of aesthetic facets of contemporary composition. Also, it perceives itself as a forum for authentic performance of modern music. Klangforum Wien is invited regularly to well-known festivals and concert series like the Internationale Ferienkurse für moderne Musik Darmstadt, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Steirischer Herbst, Wien Modern and MaerzMusik. In addition to their busy concert schedule, the ensemble also cooperates in productions such as music-theatre, film or TV. Recordings of their work are available on labels such as accord, cpo, durian, Grammont, Musikszene Schweiz, pan classics, WERGO und Kairos. In 1997 Sylvian Cambreling became the first guest-conductor of the Klangforum. www.klangforum.at |
